N. T. Rama rao (NTR) was born on 28 May 1923 in Nimmakuru, a small village in Gudivada taluk of Krishna District. He had his schooling in his village and later in Vijayawada. N.T.R completed his matriculation in 1940. And later he studied at SRR & CVR college in Vijayawada and at the Andhra-Christian College in Guntur . Sr N T Ramarao and Family .

N.T.R got job in Madras Service Commission as a sub-registrar. But he worked only for three weeks. As Rama Rao had been very much interested in films, he decided to devote himself to acting. That is why he quit the job and launched himself in to Tollywood films.

When N.T.R was 20 years old and still studying his Intermediate he married Basava Tarakam, the daughter of his maternal uncle. The couple had eight sons and four daughters.
